Sheriff's Office Recieves New Four Wheel Drive Vehicle

Sheriff Wayne Youell announced that the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority approved the Mason County Sheriff’s Office’s application and has awarded a $15,559 grant to Mason County to fund 75% of the cost for a four-wheel drive vehicle. The grant requires Mason County to pay the 25% match of $5186.

“Another four-wheel drive vehicle to our fleet will be a great advantage to our office”, said Sheriff Wayne Youell. “Many of the roads in Mason County are sand and there are several areas of our county that are only accessible with four-wheel drive. During Winters when the roads are snow packed and icy, the four-wheel drive vehicle is the only practical and effective vehicle to use for response to traffic accidents, our citizen’s complaints, and to perform other law enforcement duties.”
