The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the security and safety of the Mason County Courthouse.  Court security officers are hired to do this very important job.

Court security officers, who are stationed
at the entrance of the courthouse, use
different screening methods to ensure
that unauthorized weapons do not enter
the courthouse.

Court security officers are also utilized in
the courtroom to maintain order and
security while court is in session.  In this
role, court security officers serve as bailiffs.

Bailiffs call court to session and will remain present until court is complete.  The court security officer is also responsible for taking those individuals into custody who are sentenced during court appearances and deliver them to the Sheriff.
