Farms to be Patrolled

If you are working around a Mason County grain bin or machine shed this winter, there is a good chance that a sheriff’s deputy will stop and ask you for identification. “We are taking a proactive approach to prevent theft from our area’s farmers,” said Sheriff Wayne Youell. “Generally, thefts from farms rise during the winter months. Your sheriff’s office wants to make certain that the people we see at the grain bins and machine sheds are not committing a crime.”

Youell also added that many of Mason County’s families leave the area during the winter for vacation. He encourages those vacationing families to contact the Mason County Sheriff’s Office to have their home added as a security check prior to leaving their house unoccupied.
