Portable Breath Test Unit Awarded

Deputy Fred Ray, the sheriff’s office’s most active deputy in traffic enforcement, works with the Alco Sensor IV outside the squad car.     At a recent Department of Transportation banquet held in Springfield, Illinois, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office received an Alco Sensor IV with keypad portable breath test unit and accessories, valued at close to $2500, from a drawing held for Illinois’ law enforcement participants of the 2004 “Click It or Ticket” campaign. The Alco Sensor can store up to 900 test results, comes in a waterproof case with a rechargeable battery and printer.

“I was very surprised when we came home with this sensor,” said Sheriff Wayne Youell. “This instrument will prove to be a very valuable tool with regard to alcohol related matters where evidential quality results are required.”
