Grant Recieved For IREACH
Sheriff Wayne Youell recently announced that the Mason County Sheriff’s Office’s application was approved for a grant to fully fund an IREACH base station, its licensing, and installation in Mason County; an award that will exceed $10,000.
IREACH, an acronym for Illinois Radio Emergency Assistance Channel, gives police, fire, emergency medical service, and emergency disaster agency personnel the ability to share a common radio channel and communicate with one another during situations that involve the protection of life and/or property. Sheriff Youell anticipates the new base station to be fully operational by year’s end.
“When installed, IREACH will greatly enhance our public safety effectiveness by permitting better communication for our emergency service agencies; a leap in the right direction for our area,” said Youell.
