Mason County Sheriff's Office:  Patrol Division

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office utilizes nine, full-time, State of Illinois trained and certified officers to provide twenty-four hour service and protection to a population of 16,038 people within an area of 563 square miles.

Sheriff’s deputies enforce traffic and criminal laws, answer
calls of service, investigate traffic crashes, perform residence,
business, and farm security checks, and serve summonses,
subpoenas, and warrants.

Skilled to promote the safety of our citizens in a fair and
professional manner, your sheriff’s deputies not only
investigate events ranging from domestic disturbances
to arson, suicide, burglary, illicit drug activity, child abuse,
forgery, missing people, and murder, but also provide
assistance to the eight local law enforcement agencies in our jurisdiction.

Currently, two cities and one village in Mason County provide full-time police service.  The other five villages have part-time police.  One village and all unincorporated areas of Mason County have no local police; therefore, the responsibility for police service and protection falls exclusively on the sheriff’s office.
