Sheriff Wayne Youell announced today that the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company has awarded the Mason County Sheriff’s Office’s a 2007 Polaris Ranger 6X6 utility vehicle, valued at over $10,000.
According to the U.S. Smokeless
Tobacco Company, the Mason County
Sheriff’s Office’s grant submission stood
out among thousands of applications that
were submitted nationwide. In 2007, the
U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company
awarded 63 Polaris Rangers to our
nation’s emergency response agencies.
Two were awarded in Illinois.
According to Andrew Lee, U.S. Smokeless
Tobacco Company spokesman, in its fifth
year, the Operation Ranger Program exists both to recognize the service of the nation’s first responders and to provide a versatile vehicle that will enhance emergency response at the community level. Lee stated that as an Operation Ranger recipient, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office joins an illustrious group that includes more than 330 emergency service organizations from coast to coast.
“We are very thankful to U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company for selecting the Mason County Sheriff’s Office to be awarded the Polaris Ranger 6X6 vehicle”, said Sheriff Wayne Youell. “This all terrain vehicle will greatly assist our office in achieving our mission to provide the citizens and visitors of our county with the best service possible. I would also like to thank Bath Fire Chief Gary Atherton for bringing our attention to this terrific grant opportunity.”
