Mason County Sheriff's Office:  Latest News

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office will be working with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s new “Drug Take-Back” Initiative; a program designed to prevent increased prescription drug abuse and theft.

On October 29, 2011, from the hours of
10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the Mason County
Sheriff’s Office will be collecting potentially
dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted
prescription drugs in Mason County for the
Drug Enforcement Administration.  This
program does not allow for the disposal of
needles.  The drugs collected will then be
taken to destruction sites.

“This will be another great opportunity for our citizens to properly dispose of their prescription medications that are no longer used or useful.    Again, our office is very happy to be a part of this worthwhile program,” said Sheriff Wayne Youell.

This service is free and anonymous.  No questions will be asked.

The Mason County Sheriff's Office will be stationed to collect prescription medications at the following locations and times:

IGA Food Store parking lot in Mason City:             10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Manito Foods parking lot in Manito:                         11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Oney’s parking lot in Havana:                                      1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
