Telecommunications Officers
The Mason County Sheriff's Office provides a central dispatch center for all emergency services within our county. When one of our 16,000 county residents dials 911 our telecommunications staff is trained and prepared to put into action three ambulance stations, five BLS (Basic Life Support) teams, ten fire departments, two medical helecopter services, weather spotters, the Mason County Dive Team, Mason County ESDA (Emergency Service and Disaster Agency), three animal control officers, six police departments and the deputies of the Mason County Sheriff's Office.
Mason County's 911 was established in 1990 and converted to enhanced 911 in 1998. Enhanced 911 provides an address to the dispatcher from the phone being used by the caller. On average the Sheriff's Office dispatchers handle over 1500 calls a year.
