Yardwork Con Man Captured

Approximately two months ago, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with our local newspapers, had alerted the citizens of our area to be watching for a man who was suspected in trying to take advantage of senior citizens. He would start his scam by approaching and asking the targeted person to do yard work, such as cleaning gutters and trimming trees. He would perform little work, ask for a large sum of money, and try hard to befriend the intended victim. The man would return a few days later and ask for more money. He would say it was needed to feed his family. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office reports that the man is now back in custody for victimizing two senior citizens in an adjacent county.

“We knew it wouldn’t take long”, said Sheriff Wayne Youell. “I am glad he has been caught and very happy that he was unable to scam anyone in Mason County.”

As always, if you feel you have been or are being swindled, contact your local police or the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
